Band Pro Spotlights Lens Innovations at IBC 2016

Band Pro Munich GMBH (German subsidiary of Band Pro Film & Digital, Inc.) featured major lens innovations at this year’s IBC show at RAI Amsterdam.

Thales Angenieux, in collaboration with Band Pro Film & Digital Inc., and Jebsen Industrial Technology Co. Ltd., announced at IBC 2016 a new range of Angenieux zoom lenses – the Angénieux Type EZ Series – two fast and light weight zoom lenses integrating an innovative modular design (Interchangeable Rear Optics IRO technology™) to cover S35 mm and larger image formats for cine and broadcast productions.

Designed for both Super 35mm digital motion picture and FF/VistaVision cameras, the new Angenieux Type EZ series has been created to fill the wide gap between DSLR, and the highly acclaimed OPTIMO / OPTIMO STYLE family of lenses used in the motion picture industry.  For the first time, ENG-style productions will get the flexibility necessary for run-and-gun shooting, combined with high optical quality at an affordable price.  More information is available here.

Additionally, serial production Raptor prime lenses from German manufacturer IB/E Optics have begun shipping, and were available for testing at the show.  New 4K demo footage shot exclusively with Raptor primes was screened at the booth, showcasing the signature look and versatility of this macro-to-infinity lens series.  A complete array of IB/E Expanders, Extenders, and lens converters were also on hand, allowing cinematographers to utilize their existing glass over the widest possible range of cameras and sensor sizes.

As always, Band Pro featured the latest focal lengths from award winning Leica Summilux-C and Leica Summicron-C lenses available from CW Sonderoptic.

Band Pro President and CEO, Amnon Band remarked: “We’re in a time of transition, with cameras and camera sensors changing fast.  You want to capture in 6K, 8K, more K?  Sure, no problem. What you really need now is high quality glass that’s future-proof and ready to work with the cameras that are coming.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by the Band Pro booth at the show.
