Originally built from the 1970s to the late ’80s, Canon FD lenses gained serious attention when filmmakers discovered their close visual match to the legendary Canon K-35s—one of the few vintage cine lenses to cover full-frame. But being stills lenses, FDs weren’t production-ready for cinema—until now.

TLS have expertly rehoused the Canon FD range, transforming them into true cine tools. Our custom circular iris (14–16 blades) delivers smooth, round bokeh at any stop, echoing the classic Canon K-35 aesthetic. With our precision-engineered cam-driven focus system—now standard across the range—these lenses bring modern usability to vintage optics, including original floating element designs.

To push this range even further, we developed the FD-X (FD-Xtended) series in collaboration with cinematographers and industry leaders. These include unique focal lengths like the 18mm T1.6, 35mm T1.5, 45mm T1.5, and 70mm T1.3—created using Canon FD glass with custom wide-angle adaptors—expanding the set from 14mm to 200mm.

Every lens features internal focus, nearly 300° of smooth rotation, and consistent PL-mounted housings with matched gear positions.

Canon FD-L lenses deliver the look of the K-35s—with a slightly smaller cost, with none of the compromise.
